Traktara is a data platform for assessing whether UK energy projects are likely to get connected to the grid, and what could change that outcome. It brings public evidence from grid, planning, route-to-market and corporate-ownership registers into one place, so developers and investors can track the projects that matter, analyse the queue and simulate how new rules and caps could change connection outcomes.

From public registers, either fetched ourselves or under licence from third parties.

• Grid: ~20 registers such as NESO's TEC Register and the DNOs' Embedded Capacity Registers (ECRs). We use any public dataset that we think could benefit our users, including lesser-used publications.
• Planning: the registers that record planning applications and appeals made to local, regional and national authorities.
• Route-to-market: the published results of Government, Ofgem and NESO support schemes.
• Ownership: Companies House records.

Traktara keeps the history of each register, so you can see what's changed.

Traktara links the records that we believe are about the same project, based on evidence across grid, planning, route-to-market and corporate ownership, including public statements by developers. We use various matching techniques, including AI agents, to help find candidate matches. Every proposed link is reviewed and approved by one of our team before it goes live.

Yes. Demand projects like data centres are a key part of the overall grid queue. Demand and generation projects interact directly, for example with space limitations in substations.

We process planning applications and corporate ownership data for data centres. And, where it's published, we process grid records for demand. We expect network companies and NESO to release more information about demand connections over time, and we will process these once published.

Yes. As we build Traktara, we want to build the features that users value most. We have already amended our roadmap in response to user feedback and rapidly implemented several features requested by users.

We have connected our own AI agents to Traktara's data and are already seeing great results. Customer integrations are not available yet, but we are exploring how best to support them. If you are interested, we would like to hear which AI systems you use and how you would like them to interact with Traktara's data.

Coming soon: We're introducing Watchlists so you can watch a project (or groups of projects). We will notify you when one of your Watchlists has changes in grid, planning, route-to-market or ownership. For example, you could set up a Watchlist covering all projects connecting under Burwell GSP.

Traktara has been operating since May 2026. This summer, we have focused on building the Traktara data platform. We are grateful to the 10 developers who are using Traktara and have given us valuable feedback on the most important features.

No tool can promise that with 100% certainty, and Traktara does not. What we do is link the evidence into one place, so you can see where your project stands against the rest of the queue. We will also allow you to simulate future Gate 2 Windows, so you can see how new rules or caps could change the picture.

Yes. We show the other projects in connection registers, with capacity, technology, stage and connection dates as the publisher reports them, and show what has changed between editions of the register.

Where the grid queue order is published, or where we can derive it, we will publish it.

Yes. Traktara's "Simulate" feature, coming soon, will let you simulate how new rules, caps and assumptions would change future Gate 2 outcomes.

Yes. This is a key use case for Traktara. We show you the grid, planning, route-to-market and ownership details of a project, how it compares with the rest of the queue, and what could change its outcome, before you commit.

Yes. Traktara maps the customer or applicant named on a grid connection or planning application to a company in Companies House, and traces the ultimate ownership from there. We map Companies House companies to developers and investors ("Organisations"), so you can see who sits behind a project rather than just an SPV name that you have to trace.

We allow you to search, filter and sort the registers by Organisations and other fields, so you can see which portfolios have projects in Gate 1 or Gate 2, and which projects have planning permission or a government support contract.
